Live Music for Yoga Workshops

I provide live music for yoga workshops, currently held once a month at MoreYoga, Harringay with Yoga Parinama.

Weaving acoustic instruments (guitar, bansuri, vocal) with ambient soundscapes and live looping, the music is part improvised, part composed (based on the workshop theme and format) and is strongly influenced by Hindustani Classical Music and Dhrupad.

I will usually open with acoustic guitar providing a kind of tanpura drone, and play a soothing Raag on bass bansuri towards the middle. Sometimes tabla and beats are used to accompany sun salutations.

The yoga practice is often followed by a Sound Journey (in savasana), where the sound becomes the main focus of meditation.
For this I will typically use rain stick, koshi bells, shakers and vocal loops with ambient sounds. The setup includes 3 speaker sources to create an immersive experience.
