I played a 45 minute solo set on bansuri for the closing evening of ‘Khyal: Music and Imagination Multimedia Exhibition’ at MP Birla Millenium Gallery, Bhavan.
About the exhibition
SAMA in association with Durham University and GemArts present Khyal.
Khyal is the name of a vocal musical genre meaning “imagination”. This multimedia exhibition brings together three visual artists with musicians and musicologists to explore diverse visual responses to Indian classical music. Martin Clayton and Laura Leante have led this project.
I played: Yaman (vilambit ektaal), Jog (alaap and teental), Kirwani (alaap).
I definitely made lots of mistakes but playing for 45 minutes solo was a first, and I put my heart and soul into it as always
